Do we need a special permit for the Atal Tunnel or Lahaul Valley?

No special tourist permit is required to cross the Atal Tunnel and visit Sissu, Keylong or Udaipur. (Permits are only required if you plan to visit Rohtang Pass).

Is there an issue with high altitude sickness on this trip?

The Atal Tunnel takes you to an altitude of over 10,000 feet very quickly. While most people do fine, it's highly advised to stay hydrated, avoid heavy exertion on Day 1 and let us know if you have a history of respiratory issues.

Are the roads to Udaipur safe?

Yes, the roads are generally safe, but they are classic Himalayan mountain roads - Narrow and winding in places. We provide experienced local hill drivers who navigate these terrains daily.

Can we expect snow in Sissu and Keylong?

If you travel between late November and April, you will find abundant snow in Lahaul. In the summer months (May-Sept), the valley is mostly barren and uniquely beautiful with snow visible on the high peaks.

Will our mobile networks work in Lahaul Valley?

Jio and BSNL postpaid networks word best in Sissu and Keylong. Airtel connectivity can be patchy once you cross the atal Tunnel, especially towards Udaipur.

Day 01 :

Arrival in Manali & Acclimatization

Arrive in Manali (via Volvo from Delhi/Chandigarh or flight to Bhuntar). Your private driver will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel.
Afternoon: Take it easy today to acclimatize to the altitude. You can visit the Hadimba Devi Temple or walk through the beautiful Van Vihar nature park.
Evening: Stroll around Manali's Mall Road, enjoy a hot coffee at a local cafe and prep for the next day's high-altitude adventure.
Night: Dinner and overnight stay in Manali.

Day 02 :

Manali – Solang – Atal Tunnel – Sissu – Keylong

Morning: After an early breakfast, begin your drive toward the famous Solang Valley. Take in the snow-capped views and continue toward the Atal Tunnel (Rohtang).
Daytime: Emerge from the tunnel into the breathtaking Lahaul Valley. Your first stop is the picturesque village of Sissu. Walk down to the Chandra riverbed to photograph the magnificent Sissu Waterfall. Continue driving to Tandi to see the confluence of the Chandra and Bhaga rivers.
Evening: Arrive in Keylong, the administrative headquarters of Lahaul, surrounded by willow trees and brown mountains. Check in to your hotel/homestay.
Night: Dinner and overnight stay in Keylong.

Day 03 :

Keylong to Udaipur Excursion & Return to Manali

Morning: After breakfast, drive along the stunning Chenab (Chandrabhaga) river valley towards the offbeat town of Udaipur in Lahaul (approx. 1.5 to 2 hours from Keylong).
Daytime: Visit the deeply revered Triloknath Temple (sacred to Hindus as Lord Shima and Buddhists as Avalokiteshvara). Next, visit the Mrikula Devi Temple, renowned for its incredibly intricate, ancient wooden carvings.
Late Afternoon: Begin your return journey back to Manali. Cross the Atal Tunnel as the sun begins to set, offering gorgeous golden-hour views of the mountains.
Night: Arrive back in Manali. Dinner and overnight stay in Manali.

Day 04 :

Solang Adventure & Departure

Morning: Enjoy a relaxed breakfast. If you missed out on adventure sports on Day 2, head up to Solang Valley to enjoy paragliding, ATV rides or zorbing. Alternatively spend your morning souvenir shopping in Old Manali.
Departure: Check out of the hotel. Your driver will drop you at the Manali Volvo bus stand or Bhuntar airport for your journey back home.
